Benjamin - Chihuahua Dog for Adoption in Ramona, California

Benjamin entered Chesterfield Square-South LA Shelter as a stray, unable to bear weight on his right rear leg. X-rays revealed that his leg had been fractured in the past and never received the treatment it needed. After his stray hold ended without anyone coming forward to reclaim him, we welcomed Benjamin as a Frosted Face on February 1, 2026.

Following a thorough evaluation, our veterinary team determined that amputating his right rear leg would give Benjamin the best opportunity to move around comfortably. After surgery, he adapted well to life on three legs, and it was heartwarming to see how happy and comfortable he seemed without his non-functioning leg.

In mid-February, Benjamin found what we hoped would be his forever home. Sadly, just seven months later, he was returned to Frosted Faces Foundation when his adopter could no longer care for him. Once again, Benjamin is facing a major change, and we wish we could spare him the heartache of having to start over.

At 11 years old and just under 18 pounds, Benjamin deserves a loving home where he can feel safe, cherished, and truly belong. Despite everything this little guy has experienced, we believe his forever family is still out there waiting to find him.
