Lucky is a tiny 6-pound, 4-year-old Chihuahua who is the ultimate "velcro" companion. If you are looking for a loyal shadow to snuggle with all day, Lucky is your boy. He is low-energy, quiet, and content to curl up right next to you—or tuck himself completely under the blankets for a nap.
Lucky's journey hasn't been easy. He was surrendered by a previous owner who won him in a poker game but lacked the time to properly care for him. Before that, his background is largely unknown, though signs point to a history of neglect and frequent abandonment. While he has blossomed and grown comfortable in his foster home, his foster family is moving away, making his need for a loving, permanent home urgent.
Personality & Household Fit
* Companion Extraordinaire: Lucky thrives on human presence. He loves to be pet (and will gently paw at you to ask for more affection) and prefers sitting directly beside or on you. An ideal home is one with an experienced Chihuahua owner who works from home or is around often.
* Other Pets & Kids: While he mostly minds his own business and displays cat-like independence when lounging, Lucky would do best as the only pet in the home where he can get all the attention.
* Daily Demands: Low activity needs overall, but he walks briskly on the leash and gets excited for outdoor time.
Training & Management Needs
* House Training: Lucky is a work in progress with housebreaking. He uses pee pads and goes immediately when taken outside, but he currently confuses soft house rugs with pads. He requires a consistent routine with frequent bathroom breaks (4–5 times daily) and proactive management while he learns.
* Leash Manners: He displays typical small-dog excitement on the leash and tends to pull; he will benefit from continued basic leash training.
* Commands & Recall: Smart and food-motivated, Lucky already knows "sit," "lay down," and "paw" (for a treat!), and he boasts excellent verbal recall.
* Strangers: He may bark initially when meeting new people due to initial caution, but he settles down and warms up quickly.
Health & Veterinary Status
* Vaccinations: Up to date.
* Neutering: Neutering appointment is already scheduled by the rescue. (Note: He has a retained testicle/cryptorchidism, so the procedure is scheduled accordingly).
* Dental Care: Requires a dental scaling/cleaning, which the adopter will need to address with their vet.
* Diet: Currently thriving on Hill's Science Diet Small & Mini Sensitive Stomach.
