Meet Captain
Captain is a sweet 5–6-year-old boy who is looking for something he hasn’t had enough of in his life: patience, kindness, and the chance to finally feel safe.
Captain has lived a very sheltered life, so much of the outside world is still new to him. He isn’t mean or difficult—he’s simply scared and learning. What he needs most is a calm, understanding person who will give him time to settle in, build confidence, and discover just how good life can be.
We believe Captain would do best in a home with children over 10 and with someone who is home most of the day. He bonds quickly with the person he trusts and will likely become an incredibly devoted companion.
Because Captain can become fearful in unfamiliar situations and may try to escape if given the opportunity, his new home will need a very secure fenced area where he can safely run, play, and explore.
Captain is mostly potty trained and should do very well with a consistent routine and regular trips outside every few hours.
He gets along well with other dogs and seems to gain confidence from having canine friends around him. At the same time, we believe he could also be perfectly happy as an only dog with a person who gives him the companionship and reassurance he needs.
Captain doesn’t need someone to “fix” him. He just needs someone willing to show him, one day at a time, that the world can be a safe and wonderful place.
If you have a quiet home, a little patience, and room in your heart for a dog who is ready to learn how to be brave, Captain may be waiting for you.
IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATION
The dog you are considering is located in South Mississippi, with transport available (for an additional fee) to approved adopters in the Northeast. Virtual meet-and-greets are performed prior to adoption.
Completing an application is the only way to receive a response from our small rescue team.
Submitting an application does NOT commit you to adoption—it simply begins the conversation about whether this dog is the right fit for your family.
