What we know: Litter of 8 (5M, 3F) transferred from Shelter Support Network in Oklahoma at ~2 months old. Litter was originally found in a box on the side of the road.

From the foster: Little Louis (687) may be short on height, but he is high on personality. And despite a rough start, he doesn't let that that dull his spirit or diminish his enthusiasm to meet new friends. And if you're scrolling through his photos, stopping in your tracks and thinking "Wait, IS that a Chihuahua mix?", well join the club because we have the same question. He came to us under that label, and certainly has the little dog bark, LOVES to sit in laps, especially that of our four year old son, and sometimes when he's unsure or uncomfortable - like heaven forbid you force him to wear a collar - he'll get the classic dramatic "ChiChi shivers" complete with squinty eyes. So there's probably at least a little in this exquisite DNA cocktail, but Louis and all of his littermates aren't exactly telling the same story with their wildly varying physical characteristics. It's anyone's best guess really, however we are confident he's 100% best friend material. You won't find another puppy as fun and silly, and low to the ground, as Louis.

We may have mentioned already, our boy Louis is VERY loving. And most of the time it's completely what you'd expect, showering you with face kisses and snuggles. But with a mug this cute, you know there has to be a touch of mischief involved. So let's just get it out in the open real quick: as we stated, Louis is VERY loving. Like, deeply passionate. Like all puppies, he is just thrilled to be alive, but sometimes that sheer joy bubbles over into overexcitement. When he crosses the line into an inappropriate, "a bit too personal" play style (if you catch our drift ), we know it's time to intervene. So there's the quirk, and here's the fix. This is usually our cue that the little guy is running on an empty battery. We give him a short timeout in his crate or pen, and he usually konks out immediately, waking up refreshed and back to his usual sweet and more appropriately-minded self. While it's easy for an adult to disrupt the behavior and redirect him, it's a bit harder for a 4-year-old. If you have little kiddos, you'll just need to keep an eye out so you can step in and reinforce proper play boundaries. Louis will thrive in a home that can offer him plenty of playtime, endless snuggles, and the structured guidance every puppy needs to grow into a stellar adult dog. Consistent obedience, crate training, and potty training (he does make a practice of using puppy pads if available) are absolute musts for this little guy-unless, of course, you want to be ruled by a low-riding canine prince. And honestly? Good luck resisting those puppy dog eyes when he decides he wants to be held and coddled.

He is incredibly endearing, and if our own kids had their way, he'd never leave our house. If you're ready to adopt the silliest, sweetest squirt in town, apply for Louis today!

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
