Lily was found one evening near a streetlight, right on her rescuer usual factory feeding route. She had just finished feeding the street dogs and was walking home when she spotted her — frozen, trembling, pressed close to the pole. She was so scared she wouldn’t move, probably terrified the dogs would see her. The moment the rescuer noticed how small and frightened she was, her heart broke. She knelt down slowly so I wouldn’t scare her more. Instead of running or hiding, she did something I’ll never forget: her little tail started wagging. Just a tiny, hopeful wag. Then she let the rescuer touch her. She didn’t run. She chose trust.
