THE LION KING HAS NOTHING ON ME! MEET SIMBA!
Hey everyone! Simba here!
I’m finally getting brave enough to introduce myself and tell you my story. Now, I might need you to be a little patient with me because I’m still learning that the world isn’t such a scary place.
But first, let me tell you a little about myself!
Name: Simba
Age: 5 months old
Gender: Handsome little boy
Breed: Chihuahua mix
Good with: Dogs and cats
Personality: Shy, gentle, sweet, and just needs time to trust.
NOW LET ME TELL YOU MY STORY...
You see, my life didn’t start out the way a puppy’s life should.
I’m only 5 months old, but I’ve already been through more than some dogs go through in a lifetime.
Before I came to Paws for Julia Rescue, I suffered a terrible injury. My back leg was broken in TWO places!
When I arrived at the rescue, everyone was worried that my leg was so badly injured that it would need to be amputated.
Yep, you heard that right. I was facing the possibility of losing my little leg before I even got a chance to really enjoy being a puppy.
But my rescue mama wasn’t giving up on me!
With lots of rest, patience, and time to heal, something wonderful happened...
I GOT TO KEEP MY LEG!!!
That’s right! No amputation needed! YAY ME!
Now, you might notice that sometimes I lift that back leg up or favor it a little. Don’t worry, that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m hurting. I’ve just gotten so used to protecting that leg that sometimes I forget I can use it normally!
Pretty amazing, right?
But here’s the thing. My leg wasn’t the only thing that needed healing. My little heart needed some healing too.
I’m going to be upfront with you. I can be SUPER scared when I first meet someone or find myself in a new situation.
Sometimes I don’t know what to do, so I just get nervous.
But please don’t mistake my fear for being mean!
I DON’T HAVE A MEAN BONE IN MY LITTLE BODY!
I’m just a baby who hasn’t had the easiest start in life, and I’m still trying to figure out who I can trust.
I need someone who understands that trust doesn’t always happen overnight.
Someone who won’t rush me.
Someone who will sit with me, talk softly to me, let me come to them when I’m ready, and celebrate all my little accomplishments.
Because believe me, every little step I take toward trusting someone is a BIG step for me!
AND GUESS WHAT?
I do well with other dogs AND cats!
Having furry friends around is just fine with me!
SO WHAT KIND OF FOREVER FAMILY AM I LOOKING FOR?
I’m looking for a family with patience, understanding, and lots of love.
I don’t need someone who expects me to run up and jump into their arms the first time we meet.
I need someone who will give me the time to realize that I’m safe, that nobody is going to hurt me, and that I never have to be afraid of losing my home again.
I may take a little longer to warm up than some puppies, but I promise you that I’m worth the wait.
And remember, I’m still only 5 months old! I have so much growing, learning, playing, and loving left to do!
A LITTLE MESSAGE FROM MY HEART...
I know there are puppies out there who are outgoing, playful, and ready to love everyone they meet.
I wish I could be that brave right away.
But I’m not there yet.
Sometimes I shake. Sometimes I back away. Sometimes I just need a little space.
Please don’t give up on me because I’m scared.
I’m not a bad puppy. I’m just a puppy who has been through some bad things.
I survived a broken leg, I got to keep my leg, and now I’m ready for the next chapter of my life.
All I need is someone willing to help me write it.
WANT TO GIVE SIMBA HIS HAPPILY EVER AFTER?

PLEASE SHARE MY STORY!
Somewhere out there is a family who doesn’t mind taking things slowly. A family who understands that the most beautiful relationships sometimes take a little extra time.
Maybe that family is yours!
Until then, I’ll keep working on being brave, one little paw at a time.
Love, puppy kisses, and a whole lot of hope,
SIMBA
I may be little, and I may be scared, but I have the heart of a lion. I just need someone to help me find my roar!
