Meet Samwise & Frodo — Tiny Best Friends on One Big Adventure

Some journeys are simply better when you have your best friend beside you.

Samwise and Frodo are bonded 4-pound Chihuahuas looking for a forever home together. These two tiny gentlemen have already been through quite an adventure, and through it all, theyve had each other.

Samwise came to us with a badly broken right front leg that unfortunately couldnt be saved. He underwent an amputation and is now healing beautifully. Being a three-legged, four-pound Chihuahua hasnt slowed him down nearly as much as you might think—hes adapting wonderfully to life as a little tripod.

Frodo has a congenital condition affecting his knees that gives him the most endearing little sideways walk. We say he moves like a tiny crab! He isnt in pain and doesnt require special medical treatment. He just needs a helping hand getting on and off furniture—which, at four pounds, isnt exactly heavy lifting.

Both boys would benefit from a daily joint supplement to help support those tiny legs as they get older.

Theyre still working on their potty-training skills, so their new family will need to be patient and consistent while they learn the household routine.

And then theres outside time.

At four pounds apiece, Samwise and Frodo should never be outside unattended. They need a human bodyguard whenever theyre outdoors to protect them from hawks, other wildlife, and possibly an especially ambitious hummingbird.

What they dont need is pity. These are happy little dogs who simply happen to navigate the world a little differently.

What they do need is a family who will embrace their quirks, keep them safe, help them onto the couch, and understand that these two best friends are a package deal.

Samwise and Frodo have made it this far together. Their next adventure should be forever.
