Meet Fred, a gentle 7-year-old male Chihuahua with a heart of gold who is working hard to embrace a bright new chapter. Fred came to us after experiencing a big life change-both his beloved owner and his best dog friend passed away. While he was well cared for, he was under socialized and fed a little too well. He is still learning to navigate the wider world and can be a bit shy at first. However, Fred is making wonderful progress and exploring all the activities his foster family has been providing! He knows how to walk nicely on a leash, sit on command, and even sit up politely when a treat is involved.

Because Fred gains a tremendous amount of confidence from having canine companions around, he would thrive in a home with another dog to help him feel secure and join in on day-to-day activities. He is crate trained, fully housetrained, quiet, and naturally well-mannered. To help Fred continue building his trust at his own pace, he needs a quiet, adult-only home with a securely fenced yard where he can explore safely. With a gentle touch and a supportive pack, Fred will make a loyal and sweet addition to a loving family.
