SCOOBY IS LOOKING FOR HIS EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HUMAN!
Meet Scooby, a 4–6-year-old Chihuahua mix who has a very special heart and is looking for a very special person to share his life with.
Scooby’s life before coming to the shelter was anything but normal. He lived in a home where there was a severe hoarding situation. The house was filled with so much stuff that Scooby had to navigate his world through chaos and clutter. He learned that people and his surroundings were not always something to feel safe about.
When Scooby first arrived at the shelter, he was terrified. If someone touched him, he was so frightened that he would pee and poop all over himself.
But fast-forward to today... and WOW, what a difference!
Scooby has been living in a foster home for several months, and he has made some incredible progress. He still has a long way to go, but he is learning that people can be kind, predictable and safe.
Scooby does well with other dogs and would benefit from having a confident, stable dog in his forever home to help show him the ropes.
His foster family has been hand-feeding him so he can learn that good things come from people. He will now happily eat treats and food right from your hand!
When he first went into foster care, Scooby did quite a bit of marking. Today, he is doing great with his housetraining! That is a HUGE accomplishment for this little guy.
Scooby is good on a leash and seems to really enjoy going for walks.
Even in a fenced yard, Scooby needs to remain leashed while outside. He isn't a dog you can simply turn loose and expect to catch when it's time to come inside.
And here's the really important part about Scooby...
When you come home, he is HAPPY to see you! He wags his tail, bounces around and lets you know he's glad you're back.
But... he still doesn't want to be petted unless food is involved.
So if you're looking for a cuddly BFF who wants to be in your lap 24/7, Scooby probably isn't your guy.
But if you're looking for a dog who will quietly keep you company, become part of your life, and slowly — at his own pace — learn to trust you...
Scooby might just be your guy.
Scooby doesn't need someone to "fix" him. He needs someone who understands that trust takes time and who will celebrate the little victories along the way.
Maybe his happily-ever-after isn't about becoming the most outgoing dog in the world. Maybe it's simply about finally having a safe home, a canine friend, a predictable routine and an Emotional Support Human who will let him become the best Scooby he can be.
Could you be Scooby's person?
