Meet Poppy!
Poppy — 712-Month-Old Chihuahua Mix of a Sort
Poppy is one fun, smart, adventurous little package!
At just 712 months old, this girl has absolutely exceeded our expectations with her training. She is fully house-trained and crate-trained as long as she is kept on a consistent routine.
Poppy is social, happy, outgoing, playful, confident, curious, and incredibly smart. She gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and farm critters and absolutely LOVES running and playing with the big dogs.
She is not your average Chihuahua.
Poppy is an active young dog who wants to do things, see things, investigate things, and occasionally cause just enough chaos to keep everyone entertained.
TRAINING & MANNERS
Poppy has a great recall and continues working on her off-leash skills.
On leash, she is fantastic.
She knows her basic commands, including:
- Sit
- Stay
- Place
- Off
- Come
We're still working on that pesky "drop it."
Apparently, some things are simply too important to surrender.
Poppy is food-, toy-, play-, praise-, and attention-motivated, which makes her a very trainable young dog.
She is still learning appropriate manners and continues working on being less mouthy, but she is making good progress.
Her future family will need to continue what we have started and understand that training doesn't end just because a dog has been adopted.
ACTIVE GIRL, ACTIVE HOME
Poppy is more active than your average Chihuahua and will likely grow to over 20 pounds.
Exercise is not optional for this girl.
A bored Poppy is a bonkers Poppy.
She needs:
- Daily walks
- Playtime
- Mental stimulation
- Opportunities to explore
- Continued training
- Structure and boundaries
- Appropriate outlets for her energy
A home with playful dogs would be wonderful for her because Poppy absolutely loves having canine friends to run and play with.
She would do best with older, dog-savvy children who understand appropriate interactions with animals.
Poppy LOVES ADVENTURE
Poppy is excellent in the car and genuinely enjoys going places and experiencing new things.
She is curious about EVERYTHING.
The world is fascinating to Poppy, and she wants to see it all.
She loves exploring, investigating, playing, running, and learning.
Eventually, after all that activity, she settles down for some serious cuddling.
She is affectionate without being completely dependent and is also perfectly capable of entertaining herself.
Poppy needs someone who appreciates that she is not a little decorative Chihuahua who wants to sit in a purse all day.
She is an active, intelligent, adventurous young dog who needs guidance, boundaries, exercise, training, and someone willing to keep teaching her.
Give her those things, and you're going to have one hell of a companion.
Poppy is ready for her next adventure. Could it be with you?
