Looking for a smart, affectionate, and incredibly loyal little guy to complete your family? Meet Rusty! At just 3 years old, this handsome Chiweenie is doing absolutely fantastic in his foster home. Whoever adopts him is going to get a truly special dog.
A Certified Good Boy (With Skills!)
Rusty acts like he's had some formal training. If you're looking for a dog who loves to stay by your side, Rusty is your guy! When walking on a leash or exploring an off-leash backyard, he stays right with his human-no more than 6 inches away from your leg, paying close attention just like he was taught to heel.
He is highly intelligent and already knows several commands: He knows "Sit," "Down," and "Dance"!
He has an excellent recall and comes running whenever he is called.
Rusty is an all-around wonderful companion. He does bark a little bit, but never unnecessarily. He takes his job as a good little watchdog seriously, letting you know if someone is at the door, if there's a strange noise outside, or even if something sounds suspicious on the TV!
He does wonderfully with other dogs and currently lives happily with two little female Dachshunds (so he fits right in with fellow Doxie mixes!).
Rusty has a high prey drive for squirrels and critters!
He love, love, loves people! He is active and playful, making him a great match for kids or other playful dogs who want to engage in a game of catch, tug-of-war, or chase.
When the day is done, Rusty is the ultimate snuggle partner. True to his Chiweenie roots, he loves to sleep burrowed completely under the covers of the big bed right next to his human.

Rusty is almost completely housebroken, he is incredibly smart and will catch on to a new routine very quickly! Because his current foster home requires walking down two flights of stairs to get outside, he has been utilizing pee pads by the door and has done great with them.
We suspect Rusty may have had a doggie door in his past life. His perfect home would either have a doggie door or a yard where his family can easily open the door and let him right out.
