Gio/Giovanni - Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier Dog for Adoption in Eureka, California

This is a courtesy post for a lovely little dog. He is currently living in a home but is looking for his new furever home as his long-term guardian recently died.

Meet Giovanni – A Loyal, Cuddly Companion Looking for an Experienced Home
The Basics:
• Breed: Chihuahua/Yorkie x Chihuahua/Min Pin mix
• Age: 5 years old (Born April 18)
• Weight: 19 lbs (a few extra pounds to lose, but healthy and happy!)
• Health: Neutered, fully vaccinated, and up-to-date on all vet records.
• House Skills: Fully potty trained, crate trained (he loves his crate as a safe space), and does great indoors.
Personality & Ideal Home: Giovanni (Gio for short) is a sweet, smart, and deeply affectionate little guy who loves nothing more than cuddle time. Once he knows you're his person, he’s a snuggle bug lap dog who loves physical closeness and giving kisses. While he came into his previous home with some protective instincts that weren't fully addressed, he has thrived in a structured environment. He gets along great with calm family members (including older kids) once properly introduced, and he handles new routines well when given space to adjust.
Because he is a loyal protector at heart, Gio is looking for an experienced dog owner who understands rescue body language and boundaries:
• Home Setup: Best suited for an adult-only home or a quiet household without young children.
• Visitors & Thresholds: He can get reactive when people enter the house, at fence lines, or on a leash. However, he does fantastic when guests simply ignore him at first and let him approach on his own timeline.
• Other Pets: He is great with other dogs; cat compatibility is unknown.
Origin Story: Gio was rescued when he was a year old and spent 4 years as a fiercely loyal companion to his former owner. Because he takes his job as a protector seriously, he needs a confident handler who will set clear boundaries and guide him thoughtfully during transitions. Within less than 24 hours in his current foster setting, his affectionate side completely took over—he just needs someone patient to give him that same chance!
To ensure this charming boy finds a stable and sustainable home, there will be a rehoming fee of $150.
