Hi, I'm a little Yorkie/Chihuahua mix, and I'm still learning that the world can be a safe place. I came from a difficult situation, and because of that, people can feel very scary to me. Loud voices, sudden movements, or too much attention all at once can make me want to hide. Right now, I'm much more comfortable quietly observing from a distance than being the center of attention.

But here's the important part: I'm trying.

With patient, gentle people who speak softly and offer yummy treats, I'm slowly starting to come out of my shell. Every tiny step; staying in the room a little longer, accepting a treat, relaxing just a little more, is a huge victory for me.

I'll need patience while I adjust, and I may never be the kind of dog who runs up to greet strangers. But when I feel safe, I can form deep and meaningful bonds with the people I love.
