DESCRIPTION
At just over a year old, Couri has already overcome more than any dog ever should. She came to us from a hoarding situation where love, comfort, and security were things she had never known. When Couri first arrived, she was terrified of the world around her. People weren't a source of comfort—they were something she simply didn't understand. In foster care, Couri has slowly begun to blossom. Watching her grow from a petrified little thing into a more confident young lady has filled our hearts with joy. Every step forward feels like a victory. She is still learning that touch can be gentle and hands can be kind. While she isn't quite ready to seek out affection, she no longer flinches when someone reaches toward her—a milestone that may seem small, but for Couri, it is huge.Couri has learned to walk on a leash, is fully housebroken, and absolutely loves other dogs. Her sibling Britt, who came in with her, is probably her favorite, but she enjoys the company of dogs both big and small. While she isn't always confident enough to initiate play, she loves being part of the group and gains comfort from her canine friends. The most beautiful thing about Couri is watching her discover how to be a dog. It's in the little squiggles she does in her bed when she's happy, the bursts of zoomies across the yard, and the tail wags she saves for her foster mom at the end of group play. Each one is a reminder of how far she has come.Couri doesn't need a perfect home—she needs a patient one. Someone who understands that trust takes time and that the biggest transformations often happen in the smallest moments. If you're willing to give her the chance, Couri will show you just how beautiful it is to watch a fearful heart learn what love really means.~~If you are interested in this animal, you can complete the questionnaire found on the available pets page of our website http://hbpr.org.
