Meet Lucas — The Loving, Lively Chihuahua Mix Looking for His Perfect Match
Lucas is a 1yearold Chihuahua mix with a big heart, a tiny body, and endless affection to give. He's a sweet, friendly boy who adores people of all ages — great with children under 6 and kids 6–16 — and he's happiest when he's close to his humans. If you're looking for a devoted little companion who loves to cuddle, give kisses, and curl up in your lap, Lucas is your guy.
Lucas is an active, playful pup who enjoys exploring the yard, trotting around outside, and being part of whatever his family is doing. Because he's young and full of energy, he will thrive in a home with a secure fenced yard where he can safely run and play.
He's also a sensitive soul and needs a home where someone is around often, or where he can slowly learn confidence with gentle, patient support. When he feels safe, Lucas is incredibly loving, loyal, and eager to please.
Lucas may have submissive urination when he's excited or nervous, but with reassurance and a calm environment, he improves. He's still young and learning, and he responds beautifully to kindness and consistency.
Lucas is:
Friendly with kids
Active and playful
A total lap dog
A kisser
Dogfriendly
Loving and peopleoriented
Lucas will thrive with:
A fenced yard
A family home where he isn't left alone for long periods
Someone patient and understanding of his anxiety
A calm, reassuring environment
Plenty of affection and companionship
Lucas is a wonderful little dog who just needs the right home to help him feel secure and loved. With the right family, he will blossom into the confident, cuddly, joyful companion he's meant to be.
The suggested adoption donation for Lucas is $465, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees.
Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal's foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.
Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal's needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.
