Spud is a little dog with a big opinion about strangers—and an even bigger capacity for loving the people he trusts.

When Spuds person died, his whole world changed. He was found in his home and brought to animal control, where all those sudden changes understandably left him frightened and unsure. Since coming to AnimalCity and settling into foster care, weve had the chance to see more of the dog underneath that fear.

And he is a sweetheart.

Spud needs time to decide that a new person is safe. He may bark when meeting strangers, and he isnt the kind of dog who is going to walk into a room and immediately become everyones best friend. But once he gets comfortable with you, a very different Spud appears: affectionate, snuggly, loyal, and happiest close to his person.

Basically, you have to pass the Spud background check.

His ideal adopter will understand that trust can take a little time and wont expect him to be instantly comfortable with every new person or situation. Someone patient, calm, and willing to let Spud build a relationship at his own pace could be rewarded with one very devoted little companion.

Spud previously lived with a larger dog and has experience being around other dogs. New dogs can make him nervous, so any potential canine roommate should be considered thoughtfully and introduced appropriately.

After losing the person and home he knew, Spud deserves a next chapter built around stability, patience, and someone who appreciates him exactly as he is.
