Jellybean is a 5-year-old long-haired merle Chihuahua who weighs just 6 pounds being fostered in Weeki Wachee Florida. Don't let her tiny size fool you—she thinks she can leap tall buildings in a single bound!
This adorable little girl loves to snuggle with her person and be as close as possible. When she is not cuddling, she is always up for a game of fetch or playtime with a favorite toy, whether its with her person or another dog. She gets along well with other dogs, although she can be a bit of a tiny diva and may try to steal their treats if given the opportunity.
Jellybean came from a sad situation where her owner, who suffered from memory issues, passed away. Because she wasn't let outside consistently, she is still working on her house training. She has made great progress and is becoming more reliable about going outside as well as using the pee pads available in the house. We believe she was primarily trained on pee pads in her previous home.
She currently does not walk well on a leash, so she will need a securely fenced yard where she can safely exercise and potty. Jellybean is a very smart little dog, and with patience and positive reinforcement, she may learn to enjoy leash walks in the future. We just don't expect that to happen right away.
Jellybean bonds deeply with her people and absolutely loves sleeping curled up next to them. Because of this, she needs a home where she is welcome to snuggle in bed with her family. An adopter who works from home or is home much of the day would be ideal to continue her house training, socialization, and help build her confidence.
One of her most endearing features is the adorable little tongue that peeks out of the side of her mouth. She is not missing teeth—her jaw is slightly deformed, likely from an injury when she was very young, according to our veterinarian. It simply doesn't leave enough room for her tongue to stay completely inside her mouth. Thankfully, it doesn't slow her down one bit and only adds to her irresistible charm.
Jellybean is full of love, personality, and energy. Because she is a little bit nervous of strangers coming in and out of the house, we would prefer a low traffic home without young children. Like a true Chihuahua, she will happily let you know when someone is near the house, making her an excellent little watchdog. If you're looking for a devoted, entertaining, and affectionate companion with a one-of-a-kind smile, Jellybean may just be your perfect match.
