Checkers - Chihuahua and Basenji Dog for Adoption in Boerne, Texas

Meet Checkers! At 1 year and 7 months old and 19 pounds, this possible Chihuahua/Basenji blend came with the deluxe package: perfectly applied natural eyeliner and a tail curled so neatly it deserves a blue ribbon. Some of us need makeup and a curling iron. Checkers just wakes up like this.

Behind those handsome looks is a sweet, submissive, gentle soul who's still figuring out the world. His friendship process is simple: sit down, let him get comfortable, and pass his "Are you a good human?" inspection. Once approved, you'll receive tail wags and kisses-his official seal of acceptance!

Checkers is a happy little guy who just needs time, reassurance, and people of his own. We can't wait to see him blossom into the confident, loved little fellow he's meant to be. His eyeliner is already perfect; now he's looking for his perfect happily ever after!

The Basenji is a small hunting dog known for its unique traits, including a highly distinctive yodel like sound instead of a typical bark, and the inability to bark like other dogs. Originating from Africa, these intelligent and curious dogs are independent, agile, and alert, making them excellent companions for active individuals or families with experience handling their assertive nature. Recognized for their clean habits and cat like grooming behavior, basenjis require regular exercise and mental stimulation to thrive in a loving home environment.

The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.
