Meet Fred – The Happy Tripod Who Doesn't Let Three Legs Slow Him Down

Fred may only have three legs, but apparently nobody remembered to tell Fred that's supposed to slow him down.

Most of the time, he's a calm, gentle, low-energy guy who enjoys relaxing with his people, soaking up the sunshine, and taking life at an easy pace.

Then the zoomies hit.

Fred takes off across the yard with a huge smile on his face—and you'd never know he was a tripod.

He's calm, happy, affectionate, and living proof that three legs are plenty for enjoying the good life.

Fred Loves:

-Sleeping in
-Sniffing and exploring
-Outdoor patios
-Watching TV with his people
-Sunbathing
-Yard zoomies
-Quiet relaxation
-Spending time with his people
-Getting attention
-Food—very much food

Despite being a tripod, Fred isn't looking for a life confined to the couch. He's still happy to get out, sniff, explore, and enjoy adventures with his family.

He just also appreciates a good couch or sunny spot.

Three Legs, Plenty of Life

Fred is a tripod, but his missing leg doesn't define his personality.

Watch him race around the yard during one of his zoomie sessions and you'll understand why.

He's quick.

Fred can go from mellow little gentleman to three-legged speed racer remarkably fast, usually accompanied by a very big smile.

His overall energy level is low, though, and he's equally happy settling in for a quiet day with his people.

Sweet, Mellow & Easygoing

Fred is affectionate, gentle, independent, and easygoing.

He loves attention and isn't particularly shy about accepting it from people. He has a sweet, mellow temperament and doesn't require constant entertainment.

He's also food motivated, which should be helpful as his family continues working on basic commands.

Fred is both house trained and crate trained, and no major behavioral concerns have been reported.

Dogs, Cats & Kids

Fred would do best with calm dogs who are happy peacefully coexisting rather than dogs who constantly want to wrestle and play.

He's good with children.

His experience with cats is limited, so we can't say for certain how he'll do. Based on his temperament, his foster believes he would likely be fine with appropriate introductions.

Foster Location:

Holmen, WI

Meet & Greet Availability:
Fred's foster is happy to meet approved adopters within approximately 45 minutes of Holmen, WI.

Fred was pulled from a shelter in Mexico before making his way into rescue.

Whatever challenges Fred experienced before arriving here, he certainly doesn't seem interested in letting them dictate what happens next.

He's busy soaking up attention.

He's busy sunbathing, exploring, relaxing, and occasionally tearing around the yard like someone accidentally installed a fourth leg when nobody was looking.

Fred is a sweet, gentle, happy dog who happens to be a tripod.

Three legs haven't stopped him from enjoying his life—and he certainly isn't planning to start now.
