This handsome boy is a wise, gentle soul. Although he’s a bit of a serious guy, his goofiness is showing more every day, and he is becoming quite the nut - living up to his name!
Cashew is the perfect size at just 12 lbs: small enough to curl up in your lap, but sturdy enough for big-dog adventures. He absolutely loves to snuggle and is quick to roll over for belly rubs. Knowing the difficult start he’s had in life makes his affection and trust feel even more special.
Cashew has adapted to home life remarkably well. He is fully house-trained, sleeps quietly through the night in a crate (with his best friend Candi), and can comfortably spend periods of time crated throughout the day. He is polite with food, but loves treats, which makes him easy to train. So far, Cashew has learned to “sit” and to focus on his person for a treat. He is a very smart pup who learns quickly. Cashew also walks well on a leash and will happily trot right beside you.
Understandably, Cashew can still be shy around new people and can be reactive towards other dogs he doesn’t know. When he is given a proper introduction, it isn’t long before he’s made a new bestie and wrestling partner. Cashew can also be quite vocal at times, but he is learning every day that not all sounds are scary and he is safe.
Cashew will thrive in a loving home that can give him the patience and consistency he needs to build his confidence and feel safe in the world around him. Every day he makes improvements and watching his personality blossom has been so rewarding. Whoever is lucky enough to adopt this boy will gain a loyal companion, adventure buddy, and expert-level cuddler. ❤️
