Maple was made for soft blankets, warm laps, and being someone’s heart-felt companion. She is estimated to be around 5 years old, weighs just 10 lbs, and has the kind of gentle, loving personality that makes people fall for her almost instantly. Rescue rules apply, so breed and age are our best guess, but one thing is certain- Maple absolutely adores people and simply wants to be loved.
Go watch Maple on YouTube, then come right back to read more about this tiny dream companion. Note: Her video includes Maple and Syrup- they do not need to be adopted together and are available for adoption individually.

Maple has one of those soft, affectionate personalities that immediately makes people want to scoop her up and tuck her in close, thankfully she loves it and will nestle her head into you neck with such a tenderness. She is incredibly easy to handle, wonderfully loving, and seems happiest simply being near her people. The absolute highlight the day we met her was watching her with 7-year-old Cash.
The moment he entered the room, Maple completely lit up. Her little tail started wagging, her whole body got happy and wiggly, and she trotted right over to climb into his lap like they had known each other forever and more. She soaked up every bit of affection he gave her and truly seemed happiest in his lap and right by his side.
She has such a lovely balance to her personality too. Maple is calm, gentle, and easygoing but when she gets excited by attention and affection, her playful side comes out in the sweetest ways. She will bounce around, paw gently for more pets, and happily soak up all the cuddles you are willing to give. She is absolutely the type of dog who wants to be someone’s tag-along girl and loyal companion through everyday life.
With other dogs, Maple was socially appropriate and easy to have around. She mostly preferred peaceful coexistence over active play and showed lovely communication skills with the dogs she met. She shared space well, took treats politely alongside other dogs, and had no interest in conflict. If another dog got too pushy or accidentally stepped on her, she gave very fair, brief communication to create space, then immediately moved on without lingering stress. Overall, she came across as a sweet, emotionally balanced little dog who simply prefers calm interactions and respectful companions. Maple also did wonderfully with our house cat, she was respectful and avoidant, choosing to mind her own business rather than engage. If she was intimidated by his size or bullyish approach she wore it well.
One thing Maple is still learning is leash walking but truly, are you here looking for a chihuahua you can hold and carry? Yes! So her lack of leash skills feels like a non-point. In whatever life she had before now she was likely carried rather than going on structured walks, so the leash is still a little unfamiliar to her. We hope you agree- NBD! If leash walks are something you are looking forward with her, she simply will need gentle encouragement and patience while building confidence, but her people-oriented nature makes her very eager to stay close to her humans so chances are it’ll come easily.
Maple would thrive in a home looking for a devoted companion dog. She would likely do beautifully with gentle children, and she could happily live with another calm small dog or a respectful larger dog that understands tiny-dog boundaries. Mostly though, Maple just wants love. A lap nearby. A cozy place to curl up. A person to follow from room to room because being together is her favorite thing. She is truly such a sweet, easy little dog to love!
