Shyla is an 8 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who spent her entire life in a puppy mill. She didn't come to us knowing what it was like to be a loved pet. She came scared, unsure of everything, and just trying to figure out this whole normal dog thing.
Every day, we see a little more of the dog shes meant to be. She now greets her foster mom with tail wags and happy little dances, sleeps in bed with her and the other dogs, and is slowly learning that people are actually pretty great. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly sweet and loves gentle affection.
She is still working on house training and will need a family that understands shes starting from scratch. She will also need a securely fenced yard because puppy mill dogs can be a significant flight risk. Another calm, confident dog in the home would be a huge bonus and help continue to build her confidence.
Shyla has already had her dental, been spayed, and is up to date on her vaccines. She is heartworm negative, fecal negative, and her bloodwork looked great. She does have a grade 3 heart murmur, but she is doing well and isn't currently on any medication. She will simply need routine monitoring with her veterinarian as she gets older.
If you have the patience to let a shy little dog come out of her shell, Shyla will be worth every bit of the wait.

We require a completed and approved application before scheduling a meet and greet, and applicants must live within one hour of Chardon, Ohio.
