Meet George!
George would like to know where you’re going, whether he can come, and if there will be cuddling afterward. Found on the streets of Southwest Houston, George is now safe in foster care with support from the WAGS Fund. He is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm-free, and ready for a home of his own.
The longer we’ve known George, the clearer it’s become: this is one exceptionally sweet dog. He is kind, loving, and gentle, with a playful streak and a strong preference for being wherever his people happen to be. An invitation into your lap is always welcome. George loves fetch and a good game of tug-of-war, sometimes incorporating an army crawl for reasons known only to George. He’s also good company on a walk and happily joins longer park outings, on-leash trail hikes, and jogs. If you’re looking for someone to get outside with, he’s available. His calendar is remarkably open.
At home, George takes his office duties seriously. He’ll settle nearby for a nap, chew on a toy, stop by for a few pets, and return to his very demanding sleep schedule. He can entertain himself when he needs to, but given the choice, he’d rather share a room with you. You can do your thing. He just likes being there.
He greets people sweetly and has been gentle with the children he’s met on walks. His experience with kids is still limited to those encounters, but we’ve liked what we’ve seen.
George has also been a star in the house: no accidents and quiet in his crate. He is learning basics like sit and down, responds well to treats, and appreciates being paid for his efforts. At mealtimes, he does best being fed separately so he can enjoy his food in peace.
George is looking for: A loving home with regular walks, time to play, continued help learning the ropes, and people who enjoy having a dog close by. A little adventure, a little routine, and a generous cuddle policy would suit him beautifully. George is up for the long walk. He’s equally up for the nap afterward. Mostly, he’d just like to do both with you.
