Meet Chula, a 3-year-old red heeler with opinions, boundaries, and the emotional energy of a tiny ranch foreman running on espresso and side quests. Chula is the new kid on the block, so were still getting to know her, but here's what we've learned so far:
She is NOT dog-friendly.
Chula has made it abundantly clear that she did not come here to make friends with other dogs. She would very much prefer to be the CEO, manager, employee of the month, and entire staff all rolled into one. She wants your undivided attention, and honestly? She feels she's earned it.
She can be slow to warm up to new people.
Chula believes trust is a privilege, not a right. But if you come armed with tasty treats, patience, and respectful vibes, she starts to show her true personality. Once she decides you're acceptable, she is sweet, affectionate, and genuinely enjoys spending time with her people.
WATER.
This girl absolutely loses her mind for water. Turn on a hose, and suddenly she transforms into a part fish, part velociraptor, part aquatic cattle dog cryptid. She loves splashing in water tubs, dipping her feet in buckets, and chomping at streams of water like it personally insulted her ancestors.
If you're someone who spends time at the lake, river, beach, or basically anywhere wet... Chula is already packing her imaginary floaties.
Fetch is life.
Unlike some cattle dogs who return the ball only after negotiating terms and conditions, Chula gently places the ball directly into your hand like a polite little athlete. Honestly, it's suspiciously civilized.
Now, let's talk cattle dogs for a second: These dogs were bred to work all day moving livestock across rough terrain. They are intelligent, energetic, driven, and very capable of inventing their own jobs if humans fail to provide one. Sometimes those jobs include reorganizing your backyard, auditing your daily routine, or conducting unauthorized zoomies through the house at Mach 7. Chula is no different. She needs physical exercise, mental enrichment, structure, and positive outlets for that classic cattle dog brainpower. Think:
scent work
agility
hiking
marathon buddy
ranch/farm life
advanced fetch technician
competitive hose attacker
She has SO much potential in the right home. Chula needs someone willing to respect her boundaries, move at her pace, and appreciate the quirks that make her uniquely Chula. In return, we think she's going to be an incredibly loyal companion to the person willing to truly understand her.
Were still learning more about her every day, but one thing is already clear: this girl loves one-on-one attention with staff and enjoys being around people she trusts. If you think you might be the right fit for this wonderfully weird water-loving gremlin cow dog, please contact us to learn more about Chula.
