Walter was rescued about two and a half years ago by a family that has spent this time working with him to relax and know that he was safe. When they received him he was quite anxious and emotional, but he has improved drastically over time with persistent love, care, and routine. However, Walter has been very attached and territorial with his new people which is not ideal when you have another dog and young children. So, Walter will really do best in a home where his adults are his own.
Walter does well at the dog park and in boarding. He just likes his home to be his own! Walter is super low maintenance, loves to relax on the couch, loves hiking, and gallops like a horse. He is very food motivated! He really is a fun guy if you want to be a one dog only home!

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Walter’s adoption donation is $350 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and spay depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter, then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.
