What we know: Transferred from Fresca Fund in Fort Worth, TX; single 7-month-old male, witness took the dog after seeing a man tie him to a pole and beat him, dropped him off to local animal hospital. Note made that he could be deaf.
**Special Needs**
Possible hearing loss or deafness, still assessing and it's not clear based on everyday life.
From the foster: Charlie is as sweet as can be while still having all the puppy spunk of an 8 month old. He loves to play with his foster siblings and then nap for hours to recharge his batteries. Charlie may be deaf but he doesn't let that be a disability. In fact, it may make him the perfect pup. He sleeps through the night no matter how loud it is. He listens as well as his foster siblings so that's not a hinderance either. In fact, because of his hearing, Charlie is attentive & pays close attention to his person and takes his cues from them. Charlie does great on walks and will signal to go outside. He's still learning that but if you pay attention, he will let you know exactly what he needs. Charlie needs a home where he can feel safe to be his best furry self.

ABOUT: CATAHOULA LEOPARD DOG DOG BREED
The Catahoula Leopard Dog, a unique and versatile breed originally from Louisiana, is known for its striking coat patterns resembling a leopard. These dogs are esteemed for their intelligence, loyalty, and exceptional working abilities. With a strong instinct for herding and tracking, they excel in diverse roles such as hunting, herding, and search and rescue. Renowned for their protective nature and affection towards their families, Catahoula Leopard Dogs make devoted companions for owners committed to providing them with proper training and stimulation.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
