Meet Betty Lou Gooseberry, a 4-month-old (4/16) Catahoula / Boxer mix, weighing 28 pounds (as of 4/16/26). The Gooseberry Gals were found as strays in Mississippi and even worse, they can't spell "Mississippi!" But they can spell "love" which is what they hope to give to their future family in New England!.
When it comes to taking care of her people, Betty Lou is always ready. Just look at her concerned face! This girl knows you make questionable decisions, but she'll never judge you, no matter how bad things get! Betty Lou will be there to comfort you when you're sick after riding that roller coaster for the 10th time or when you realize you sold your car to a Craigslist scammer. You might be feeling horrible, but Betty Lou hopes to lessen the blow with her sweet nature and playful puppy energy.
The Gooseberry Gals tend to be a little mouthy during play, but they hope to overcome that habit with your support. They're just so excited to be with you! They're great with kids, dogs and have even lived with cats! Since they're still young, extra care and patience is necessary when it comes to potty training, leashing, and commands. They do have experience with crates, so that's one less thing to worry about! They can't wait to add some fruity goodness to your home!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
