Mara - Carolina Dog and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Houston, Texas

MARA

Carolina Dog, Mixed Breed
🇺🇸
Houston, Texas
July 15th
female, medium, adult

DESCRIPTION

Mara was rescued from the Euthanasia list at a shelter in Houston, TX. Because she had a creamy white eye, she was passed over by adopters as well as rescues. A Good Samaritan rescued her and with the help of some funding, was able to do surgery on the eye and save her life. It is unknown what the cause was but it was either a puncture or malnutrition as a puppy. Mara loves to run and play and would do very well on a lot of property in the country or in a big back yard. She is not used to city life and wouldn't do well in a densely populated area. She does very well with most dogs, and but doesn't like dogs with dominate traits. She loves car rides and going for walks. She would make a great friend.

Mara is currently in the Houston, TX area however transport can be arranged. A portion of her adoption fee is applied to transport.

ABOUT: CAROLINA DOG DOG BREED

The Carolina Dog, a primitive breed known for its wild ancestry, is a medium sized, agile, and intelligent dog originally found roaming freely in the Southeastern United States. With a distinctive appearance marked by erect ears, a bushy tail, and a sable coat, Carolina Dogs are highly adaptable, affectionate with their families, and wary of strangers, making them excellent watchdogs. Their natural hunting instincts and independence require consistent training and an active lifestyle to thrive in a loving home environment.

ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
