DESCRIPTION
Coming Soon: Meet Shayla (available Fri 5/1)!
Shayla is an 11-month-old mixed breed dog weighing about 40 pounds who is full of playful energy and ready to find a family to grow up with. She's a friendly, people-oriented young dog who enjoys attention, meeting visitors, and staying close to her favorite humans. Like many adolescents, she's still learning the ropes and will thrive with guidance, structure, and plenty of positive outlets for her energy.
Before arriving with us, Shayla lived with other dogs and had positive interactions with children. She was described as active and social, though she's still building confidence in new situations and benefits from patient support as she settles in. She's also working on important skills like house training and learning appropriate boundaries, so her future family should be ready for all the fun (and learning!) that comes with a young dog.
Shayla is looking for an engaged home excited to continue her training, provide enrichment and activity, and help her grow into the confident companion she's meant to be. With time and consistency, she's sure to shine.
ABOUT: CAROLINA DOG DOG BREED
The Carolina Dog, a primitive breed known for its wild ancestry, is a medium sized, agile, and intelligent dog originally found roaming freely in the Southeastern United States. With a distinctive appearance marked by erect ears, a bushy tail, and a sable coat, Carolina Dogs are highly adaptable, affectionate with their families, and wary of strangers, making them excellent watchdogs. Their natural hunting instincts and independence require consistent training and an active lifestyle to thrive in a loving home environment.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
