Meet Keiko
At just two years old, beautiful Keiko has a whole lot of dog and a whole lot of life waiting to come out.
Keiko is a young female Cane Corso who is big, strong, playful, enthusiastic and undertrained. She has not shown her family aggression toward people or animals. What she has shown is a tremendous amount of energy and excitement without enough training to know what to do with it.
Keiko knows some basic commands and will go into her crate when asked. When she has the opportunity to spend quiet time with the person she responds to best, she wants to stay right by his side. But when she gets excited, Keiko is a LOT of dog. She jumps, plays hard and can be difficult to physically control. She has not yet learned the manners that a dog of her size and strength needs.
That is why Keiko needs an experienced home.
Cane Corsos are powerful working and guardian dogs. They are intelligent, loyal and deeply connected to their people, but they need consistent training, socialization, physical exercise and mental stimulation. Keiko has simply not had enough of those opportunities yet.
Most of Keiko’s current day is spent either crated indoors while her family works or in an outdoor enclosure. She doesn’t get the exercise, interaction or training she needs, and her family recognizes that this isn’t the life they want for her.
There is a sweet and social side of Keiko that we would love to see given the opportunity to grow. When a little dog began visiting her yard, Keiko made a friend. They enjoyed spending time together, and when Keiko managed to get out of the yard, the two buddies would sometimes explore the neighborhood together. Because Keiko has had limited exposure to other animals, any future canine companion will still need an appropriate introduction.

The Home Keiko Needs
Keiko is not a breeding prospect. She will be spayed before adoption. We are looking for someone who wants a Cane Corso for one reason: companionship.
Preference will be given to an adopter with experience with Cane Corsos, mastiffs, guardian breeds or other large, powerful dogs. Her adopter needs to be physically capable of handling her and genuinely committed to continuing her training and socialization.
Keiko needs structure and boundaries. She needs exercise and something productive to do with that intelligent working-dog brain. Most of all, she needs time with her person. Cane Corsos were developed to work alongside people, and the breed is known for forming strong bonds with its family and thriving on companionship.
We are not presenting Keiko as a finished dog.
She isn’t.
At two years old, she has missed some important training and socialization experiences, and her next person will need to be willing to put in the work. In return, they will have the opportunity to discover who Keiko can become when she finally receives the exercise, education, companionship and purpose she needs.
Keiko doesn’t need another place to be kept.
She needs a life. She needs a person. And she needs someone who understands exactly what it means to bring a Cane Corso into their family.
