Meet Petunyah

Petunyah may sound like the name of a delicate little flower, but this girl is more of a **39-pound, short-and-stout meatball with a soft center.**

Born around July 8, 2025, Petunyah is a petite bully breed who came to us as a stray. Unfortunately, her introduction to rescue wasn't an easy one. Within her first week, she required emergency surgery, including an emergency hysterectomy. We may never know everything this sweet girl experienced before finding her way to safety, but we do know that she's ready for the next chapter.

Once Petunyah feels comfortable, her personality starts to shine.

Her hobbies include getting the zoomies, chewing on toys, snuggling up next to you on the couch and, most importantly, collecting balls.

Please note that we said *collecting*, not fetching.

You throw the ball.
Petunyah chases the ball.
Petunyah retrieves the ball.
Petunyah keeps the ball.

That's it. That's the game.

Her foster has learned to bring several balls outside and throw them one after another while secretly collecting the abandoned ones. Petunyah believes she has invented a flawless system and we see absolutely no reason to tell her otherwise.

She's also a smart cookie. Petunyah is very trainable, takes treats gently and already knows how to sit and wait for permission before eating. She's 100% crate trained — although she would like it formally documented that entering said crate requires payment in the form of a small treat. Once inside, she settles nicely

The bulldog is a medium sized, muscular breed known for its distinctive wrinkled face and pushed in nose. Originally used for bull baiting, bulldogs have evolved into loyal and affectionate companions. They are characterized by their loose, saggy skin, droopy jowls, and a unique gait from their bow legged stance. Bulldogs are known for their gentle nature, making them excellent family pets. Despite their intimidating appearance, bulldogs are typically friendly, making them beloved by owners worldwide.

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
