Dog Story
“Bonjour, my name is Fe (pronounced “Fay”) and I’m a 2-year-old orange roan French Brittany Spaniel. I landed here due to my owner’s change in life circumstances. I sleep in my crate at night and don’t complain about being there. OK, so I dash into my crate and put myself to bed for a treat... Foster Dad says I’m “food motivated”, whatever that is. I may look like a delicate flower, but I hold my own wrestling with their retriever who weighs 20 pounds more than me! A confident companion dog is a must for me. I’m really shy around new people, but once I trust and approve of you, I’ll stick to you like Velcro. Are you that one person?”

Things to know about Fe:
– “I’m mostly house trained and I will let you know when I need out by looking anxious and circling.” We put her out every 2 hours while awake. She’s had minimal accidents.

-Like she said, Fe really bonds closely with one person. She is slow to warm up to new people and soft voices are important to gain her trust. Fe should go to an adult only home.

-Another confident dog in the house is essential to help Fe gain confidence.

-Fe is a potential counter surfer. She will need to be supervised around food as she believes in helping herself if the opportunity is right.

– She likes to jump up on people- that’s a work in progress.

-Miss Fe is known to steal paper towels from an unsecured trash for her “paper mache art projects”: TP is really fun to pull off the reel and run through the house!

-Fe seems to know “sit” and “come”. She needs continued work on basic obedience but really wants to please. It also helps that she’s food motivated.

-Miss Fe shows hunting potential. Her nose is always working the ground in close quarters to us while she’s in our back yard.

– We haven’t tested her with cats directly. She saw a foster cat at the vet where she was boarded and immediately respected the “hiss”.

-Fe gets excited for car rides. She has had carsickness treated successfully with pre-treating her with Meclizine.

– “I’m fully vaccinated, HW and tick borne illness negative, microchipped, and no intestinal parasites.” Spayed.

-As a typical Brittany, we watch her closely around doors. A securely fenced in yard is required. She’s very sensitive, so we don’t think an invisible fence would work well.

As Fe’s story is told...she is an owner surrender due to life circumstances changing for them. She spent her first 2 years living in a kennel run.
