Every new dog that rolls through our doors gets the full Mable treatment: a wiggly welcome committee of one, tail going like a metronome stuck on "excited." She's basically our shelter's floor manager — if there were name tags, hers would say "Ask Me About Being Your New Best Friend."

This boxer mix doesn't do strangers. She does future friends. People, dogs, doesn't matter — Mable greets everyone like they're the guest of honor at her own personal party. She's got that classic boxer energy: goofy, affectionate, and always ready for whatever's next.

But here's the thing about being the shelter greeter — eventually the newbie gets adopted, and Mable's still here, meeting the next one, and the next one.

She's really good at her job. She'd rather not have to do it anymore.
