DESCRIPTION
Russell is a deaf, sweet, gentle giant with a heart as big as his paws.
Russell loves his walks—especially in places where he can take his time and enjoy all the wonderful smells of the world around him. He enjoys being around his person and thrives on companionship. He also has a past leg injury that gives him a bit of a lovable swagger, but it doesn’t slow him down much—he still gets the zoomies and enjoys running and playing.
At bedtime, Russell currently sleeps on the bed and tends to settle in quietly without moving much. He would likely adapt well to a supportive dog bed, especially if it’s placed where he can see his person nearby.
Russell knows some basic sign language and visual signals, and he’s eager to learn more—especially when treats are involved! With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, he continues to do well.
Russell’s ideal home would be with someone who:
Has experience with deaf dogs and understands their unique needs
Is patient and kind, using visual cues and positive reinforcement
Ha experience with big dogs and big dog energy
Understands that large dogs can be enthusiastic chewers and will provide plenty of appropriate toys
Enjoys walks and allows time for sniffing and exploration
Can provide space for zoomies and play
Is mindful of his physical needs, particularly his joints and leg
Wants a dog who thrives on companionship—Russell does fine in a crate when needed, but he truly shines when he can be near his person
A canine companion around his size would be great
Russell is a happy, affectionate dog who loves to play and be close to the people he cares about. He’s looking for a home that understands his needs and is ready to give him the stability, love, and attention he deserves.
Could you be the one to give this big, loving boy his forever home?
