Sophia is a 2-year-old, 18-pound wire-haired terrier mix who is just beginning to learn what it means to be on her own.

She spent her entire life with her mom and siblings, and now she’s learning to navigate the world without them. She’s a shy girl who needs a little patience, understanding, and someone willing to show her that the world isn’t such a scary place.

Sophia is still learning to walk on a leash, so a secure fenced-in yard is a must. A friendly canine companion would be wonderful to help her build confidence, too!

Sophia is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where she can take things at her own pace and learn to feel safe and loved.

Sometimes the dogs who need us most are the ones who need a little extra time. Could you be Sophia’s safe place?
