DESCRIPTION

Meet Tomas. The 6 year old black and white border collie! Despite no longer being a puppy, this handsome boy still has the energy to compete with one! He loves playing with a soccer ball, and here at the shelter he loves to dig in the sand box and play fetch in the yard. In his previous home he was mostly outdoors, but to keep him safe and healthy we recommend he be inside with his new family and let outside for play time! Tomas has been very friendly and sociable here at the shelter, both with people and dogs. Because he is a high energy dog, he may not get along with every dog, so a slow and thoughtful introduction with any resident pups is highly recommended. He will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep him happy and burn off his energy in his fur-ever home. If you are looking for a friendly and energetic companion to play with you, come by and meet Tomas today! The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
