Dorito is a one year-old, 34 pound male neutered Border Collie, who is currently in a Kansas City area shelter. He was initially a stray in Oklahoma and was transferred to the Kansas City shelter.
Dorito loves his people, is a very active and driven boy, and would likely make a great sport prospect. He shows great focus, toy drive and a fantastic tug. While he doesn't always return with the disc, it's simply a matter of teaching him the rules of the game.
Dorito enjoys interacting with the other dogs in large playgroups with dogs big and small. It's unknown how he is with cats, however.
Dorito is highly alert on walks and if walking too close to a roadway, may lunge after cars, but is easily redirected. He also can be a leash biter but stops when told. Though he’s good with other dogs in playgroups, he will bark and pull, sometimes lunge towards other dogs when out on a walk.
The shelter staff describes him as being very treat and toy motivated, Affectionate, Driven, Friendly, Happy Go Lucky, Hyper. He does still jump on people and can be mouthy, especially when trying to get you to play with him. He has shown no aggression.
He is neutered, heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives.
