Don't let the name fool you—Chiquito is a 1-year-old, 65-pound Border Collie / Newfoundland mix with a heart full of love and plenty of "piss and vinegar!" He is a handsome, enthusiastic young guy who lives life out loud and is looking for an owner who loves a big dog with a playful, larger-than-life spirit.

High Energy & Heart of Gold
Chiquito is overall a medium-energy boy, but when he is excited, he is all in! He loves making friends and getting close, sometimes greeting people and other dogs with a very enthusiastic, "in-your-face" style. Because he can be a little pushy with his greetings, he will do best with an owner who can gently guide his big-dog manners.

Dog Friends: He has had some exposure to resident dogs! Because of his pushy play style, slow and structured introductions are a must to make sure his potential dog buddies appreciate his forward approach.

Kids & Cats: He has not had exposure to children or cats yet, so a household with experienced owners or older kids who can handle a bouncy 65-pound boy would be ideal.

Chiquito is a strong, ambitious boy who thinks every walk is an exciting mission!

Leash Manners: Because he is strong and just plain excited to go, he currently pulls on the leash and is working on his walking etiquette. He will thrive with a handler who is ready to work on loose-leash training using positive reinforcement and a sturdy harness.

Smart & Ready to Learn: Mixing the intelligence of a Border Collie with the strength of a Newfoundland, Chiquito has huge potential. With consistency, clear boundaries, and structured guidance, he is going to transform into an absolute dream companion.
