Taco is a great dog, with excellent recall (likely be easily trained to be off leash). When you call him he comes to you! Fantastic recall even if he hardly knows you! He has longer hair that is spotted on his neck and legs and 4 white feet which is common with border collies.
He is with a different foster right now as his first foster (whom Taco did great with the two dogs and two cats needed to leave town, His current foster has this to say about him (and that her dog she adores isn't as wonderfully behaved as Taco!
TACO is a people-bonding dog and is patient as we get ready to go out the door for an adventure or to see what his person(s) does next. He is great in the car, hops right in and stays in his place, usually lying down. He shares well with another dog as he has shown in his foster homes - the car, toys, treats. Taco will also happily entertain himself with some fun good chew toys in or out of his crate and is completely perfectly quiet in his crate. He will happily sleep there or with you in your bed! He is very flexible. When he plays he hops and can play and entertain himself and will bring a ball or toy back to you sometimes looking so cute, especially when his ears are up! TACO is a pretty relaxed dog and goes with the flow in his daily routines. He is good on the leash and a harness is recommended to prevent from pulling and is not reactive to other dogs walking by on the trails. He did well in a crowded picnic area on the lake and does not pick up garbage from the ground. In the house he likes to jump on the bed and can sleep through the night or in a crate for the night also has worked for him. He is calm in the house and is easily redirected to his area. He does like chewy toys and does chip away at even the toughest Kong. He does bark and talk sometimes when someone new comes in, but is redirected with reassurance and a chance to meet a new person. He makes eye contact and you have his undivided attention! TACO is a great dog!
His previous bio was this:
DOB approx 9/24/24). He’s a bright, loving, beautiful, smart dog. He’s still young and everyday things still can on occasion suprise him. He loves other dogs and totally ignored my cats in the house in Texas and when he came to WA to te foster he was with two dogs and two cats. He did great especially with the cat (see the videos) He will play with one of the cats who enjoys playing with Taco and ignores the cat that wants him to ignore it!
He is gentle and loves treats…a little shy of strangers but a gentle voice and treats wins him over quickly. He is strong and healthy…good for someone who wants a companion for hiking or running. If you are a single person and want a super friendly dog but who barks and alerts you to anyone coming he would be great for that too. He is good for long walks. He is about 60#s, He is a little cautious with new people that is why we said NO chldren, but it really depends on the family and the age of the children, etc.
Only a DNA test will tell for sure what his breeds are. He is house trained and crate trained. He does great riding in the car and is getting better at getting in the car voluntarily. He learns quickly…smart dog. He knows his name but for a nickname we call him TACO PACO. The thing that makes him especially so cute is his ears… they make him look like “The Flying Nun.” We say good with children but likely those would be at least 10 yrs old and up.
