Dexter - Bloodhound Dog for Adoption

Dexter is a beautiful 5-year-old bloodhound who is ready to be your best friend. He is good with other dogs, cats, and kids and is completely house trained. He also knows how to use the dog door and has no problem going into his crate on his own or when his humans leave.

Dexter is a good listener and responds when corrected, but if left unattended he will take that as a chance to look for snacks! Dexter LOVES to eat and will happily scarf down his bowl of food - even with medicine mixed in! He’s one food-motivated guy.

He walks well on a leash, but can be suspicious of new people. Once he learns the new people are safe and just want to give him love, he won't forget it. This happens quickly.

Dexter will need a confident handler who can reassure him. Dexter is fearful of the vet. Fortunately use of medication helps, but he would benefit from a vet who is willing to be patient with him.

Dexter would do best in a home with a privacy fence versus chain link, and with an owner who is comfortable walking a big boy like him. He loves to snuggle on the couch or a comfy bed and is a very loyal boy to his humans.
