DESCRIPTION
Meet Mona — the goofy sweetheart ready for her second chance
Mona came to the shelter through the same owner surrender as Blue, arriving underweight, covered in fleas, and in need of some much-deserved care. Even after such a rough start, this girl’s spirit shines bright. Mona is a big, lovable goober with a silly streak that keeps everyone smiling.
She’s currently working on her leash manners and making progress every day. Mona is also learning to complete her potty training, and with consistency and patience in a home environment, she’ll continue to improve. She’s treat-motivated, eager to please, and already practicing the command "sit." With her enthusiasm and smarts, she’ll be a fun pup to train.
Mona tested high for heartworms and has begun her treatment, but she’s handling everything with her trademark sweetness and resilience. She enjoys affection, playtime, and any opportunity to be near her people. Her goofy personality and gentle nature make her a joy to be around.
Mona is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She’s ready for a family who will guide her, cheer her on, and love her through every step of her fresh start.
ABOUT: BLACK MOUTH CUR DOG BREED
The Black Mouth Cur is a versatile and intelligent hunting dog known for its strong work ethic and loyalty. Originating in the southern United States, these medium to large sized dogs are muscular and athletic. Their distinctive feature is the black mask on their muzzle, giving them their name. Black Mouth Curs excel in various tasks such as hunting, herding, and guarding, making them ideal companions for active families looking for a versatile and devoted canine.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
