DESCRIPTION
Meet Acorn
Acorn is a house-trained, calm, affectionate boy looking for the right home to call his own. He’s friendly and loving with people he knows, gets along well with other dogs and children, and walks nicely on a leash—even ignoring deer along the trail. He’s highly intelligent, eager to please, and already knows commands like “sit” and “drop,” while continuing to work on “stay.” His favorite thing? Belly rubs and spending time with his people.
Acorn was recently returned from adoption after becoming protective of the home when a stranger entered unexpectedly. Like many dogs, he needs time to build trust, adjust to a new environment, and learn a routine. Outside of the home, he has done well with people and other animals, and his foster described him as a truly great dog.
Acorn would thrive with an adopter who can give him patience, structure, and guidance while he settles in. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he is an incredibly loyal and loving companion who bonds deeply with his family. Come meet Acorn—your new best friend could be waiting.
ABOUT: BLACK MOUTH CUR DOG BREED
The Black Mouth Cur is a versatile and intelligent hunting dog known for its strong work ethic and loyalty. Originating in the southern United States, these medium to large sized dogs are muscular and athletic. Their distinctive feature is the black mask on their muzzle, giving them their name. Black Mouth Curs excel in various tasks such as hunting, herding, and guarding, making them ideal companions for active families looking for a versatile and devoted canine.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
