Hi, I’m Barney, and I’m looking for something very special—a person I can call my person. I am a 4-year-old Black Mouth Cur* ix weighing about 61 pounds.

I’m a shy guy, and I’ll admit that it takes me a little while to trust new people. I’m not going to be the dog who runs up to greet you on our first meeting. Instead, I need you to be patient with me and give me the time and space to get to know you. I may need several visits before I’m ready to let you into my heart.

But once I choose you, you’ll have a friend who is incredibly loyal. I love being near my person and will happily follow you wherever you go. I’m not looking for a busy social life or a house full of excitement. What I really want is a quiet, loving home where I can feel safe and spend lots of time with my human.

I’m perfectly comfortable around other dogs, although I’m not really interested in playing with them. My attention is much more focused on my person. I can also live with two people, but I’ll probably choose one special human to bond with most closely.

Because of my timid nature, I’m looking for someone who won’t expect me to become confident overnight—and who understands that earning my trust is a process. I promise, though, that the love and loyalty I give you will make every bit of that patience worthwhile.
