Somewhere along the way, Elwood got lost. But we refuse to let him stay forgotten.

Found wandering alone in an industrial area of Phoenix, this big, handsome 6-year-old Black Lab was just trying to make his way through a world that had seemingly left him behind. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan saw him, stopped for him, and brought him to safety. And from there, Elwood’s story changed.

Because this sweet boy deserves so much more than surviving on the streets. He deserves a family. A soft place to land. Someone who will look at his big brown eyes and promise him that he never has to wonder where he belongs again.

Elwood is an incredibly sweet boy with a huge heart to match his size. He is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how anyone could have ever let him end up alone.

He did need a partial tail amputation after suffering from happy tail, but he is healing well and is ready to leave his difficult past behind. Next up for Elwood is professional board and train, where he’ll work on his basic obedience, build his confidence, and learn all the skills that will help him transition into his forever home. We have a feeling that once he realizes he is safe, loved, and finally home, we’re going to see this already wonderful boy truly blossom.

We don’t know what Elwood’s life looked like before he found his way to us. We don’t know how long he was alone or how he ended up wandering through that industrial area. But we do know this: his past does not have to define his future. Elwood has so much love left to give. And we cannot wait for the day someone walks through our doors, sees this big, beautiful boy, and realizes that he is the one they’ve been waiting for.

Elwood has spent enough time wondering where he belongs. Now it’s his turn to finally be home.
