Buddy is a 10-week-old Black Lab mix with the sweetest soul and a story of resilience.
Buddy and his sister Katie were found abandoned in a bag beside a Salvation Army donation drop box at a shopping center in Atascocita, Texas. Thankfully, a past Freedom Street Rescue adopter discovered the puppies, brought them home, cleaned them up, fed them, and got them to the vet first thing the next morning. All five puppies were healthy and ready for the fresh start they deserved.
Today, Buddy is thriving and growing more confident every day.
Buddy is a gentle, thoughtful puppy with a calm and affectionate personality. While he can be a little cautious at first, once he feels safe and comfortable, his playful side quickly comes out. He likes to take a moment to observe new situations before jumping in, especially around larger dogs. It is honestly one of the cutest things about him.
Buddy is wonderfully easygoing in his foster home. When he gets tired, he will happily walk right into his crate on his own to settle in for a nap. He loves chewing on sticks, exploring the yard, and spending time near his people.
Like his sister, Buddy appears to be mostly Black Lab, though likely on the smaller side for a Lab mix. He has a tiny white patch on his chest along with a little white spot on his chin that makes him extra adorable. Based on his size and paws, we estimate he will be around 40–60 pounds fully grown.
Buddy also enjoys water and quickly discovered that bath time can actually be pretty fun.
He was wonderful with children during Memorial Day festivities and quickly became a favorite with kids of all ages. At just 10 weeks old, Buddy already sleeps over 7 hours overnight in his crate and is doing great with crate training. He currently weighs 8.2 pounds.
Buddy is sweet, affectionate, loyal, and ready to become someone’s very best friend.
