DESCRIPTION

Marley Jo Bay Little Miss Independent

Marley Jo Bay is proof that you don't have to be the loudest puppy in the room to completely steal the show. This beautiful girl is laid-back, independent, quietly funny, and perfectly content marching to the beat of her own little puppy drum.

At just 9 weeks old and approximately 10 lbs, Marley is a gorgeous Black Labrador Retriever/Lab mix with a sleek black coat and the kind of classic Lab beauty that's only going to become more striking as she grows. She's one of five puppies in her litter - four girls and one boy - and she's already showing that she has a personality entirely her own.

While some puppies are determined to climb directly into your lap the second you sit down, Marley has a different approach to life.

She's got things to do!

Marley is a funny little girl who genuinely enjoys doing her own thing. She's not constantly seeking out affection or asking to be the center of attention, and she doesn't need to be attached to a person every second of the day. But that doesn't mean she isn't loving. Reach down for some pets or scoop her up for affection and Marley will happily accept the love - she just doesn't feel the need to demand it.

That independent streak pairs beautifully with her naturally laid-back personality. She's not particularly in-your-face and seems perfectly comfortable entertaining herself, observing what's happening around her, or joining the fun when the mood strikes. For someone who loves the companionship of a dog but appreciates one who can have a little independence too, Marley is already showing some wonderful qualities.

And she's had an incredible start to life.

Marley and her siblings are being raised in a busy foster home with young, energetic children, adults, and other dogs, so everyday family chaos is completely normal to them. Their foster has intentionally exposed the puppies to different noises - including rain and thunder sounds and clanking food bowls - to help them become comfortable with the sights and sounds of real life. Marley has done wonderfully with the young children in her foster home and has no noticeable preference between men and women.

She's also getting some great canine socialization. The puppies absolutely love their foster's energetic 7-month-old Goldendoodle, happily running and chasing along with her. There's also a young Blue Lacy mix in the home whom the puppies are curious about, although their foster is wisely taking those introductions slowly. Marley has not been introduced to cats yet, so any future feline friendships should begin with thoughtful, supervised introductions.

For such a young puppy, Marley already has a fantastic foundation. She's kennel trained, generally quiet in her crate, and does great riding kenneled in the car. Potty training is going remarkably well for only nine weeks old, although the occasional overnight accident can still happen as she continues learning.

She's also very food motivated and loves treats, which can be a fantastic tool as her forever family begins teaching basic commands and good puppy manners. Marley and her siblings are usually pretty quiet - right up until they realize food is coming. Apparently that's important enough to announce.

Even bath time doesn't faze this girl. The puppies have had plenty of bathing experience and tolerate it wonderfully. Rather than trying to escape, they're more interested in seeing if they can drink the water coming from the sink.

Marley is still only nine weeks old, so there's an entire personality waiting to develop as she grows. She'll need all the normal things that come with raising a puppy: continued potty training, positive socialization, basic obedience, appropriate outlets for chewing and play, consistency, patience, and lots of opportunities to experience the world safely.

But she's already starting with something pretty special.

Marley Jo Bay is beautiful without knowing it, affectionate without being demanding, social without needing to be the center of attention, and independent enough to find her own fun.
She'll take the treats. She'll take the pets. She'll join the family adventures.
And then she might wander off because Marley has Marley things to do.

If you're looking for a stunning little Lab girl with an easygoing spirit, a funny independent streak, and a fantastic foundation for family life, Marley Jo Bay is ready to do her own thing right alongside you!
