Simon—also known as Mr. Wiggles—is about as pure of a joy machine as you’ll ever meet. He’s right around 9–10 months old, about 50 pounds, tall, lanky, and somehow still growing into himself. Picture a dog whose tail doesn’t just wag… it takes the whole back half of his body with it. He gets so excited to see you that he’ll literally wiggle himself off balance and wipe out mid-run. It’s impossible not to laugh.
What he lacks in genius he makes up for in heart. Simon is a world-class cuddler, treats it like a sport. When I lay down, he doesn’t just come over—he slithers across my chest like he’s made of noodles, flops down, and demands love. He will look you directly in the face like, “Yeah, this is happening now,” and you won’t argue with him.
Simon has come a long way. When we found him and his brothers on the side of the road, covered in filth and clearly never having known comfort, he was scared of everything—including coming inside. The first time he laid on a blanket, he just froze there, soaking it in like he had discovered something magical. That moment sticks with me. Now he lives for soft spots, belly rubs, and being close to his people.
He’s learned “wait” incredibly well. Food motivated doesn’t even begin to cover it, but he will sit there, locked in, drooling if he has to, and wait until you release him. Same with doors and kennels. He’s got the foundation—he just needs someone to keep building on it.
Simon is high energy, playful, and thrives on interaction. He plays great with other dogs and has excellent body language. Even with a tiny Chihuahua that wants nothing to do with him, he responds perfectly—backs off, rolls over, shows he just wants to play. He’s got a good heart and good instincts.
He will need a home that understands energy. He’s not a “leave him alone for 10 hours” kind of dog. He needs engagement, movement, and people around. A fenced yard is pretty much a must, and it needs to be a good one—he is an escape artist when bored.
All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks!
