"Charlie the Dood" was found as a stray in Paterson, New Jersey. This adorable boy was found injured with an eye infection, and a good Samaritan brought him to us for help and a chance at a forever home. Thankfully, that good Samaritan was a nurse and she took extra good care of him while awaiting a safe place for him to land!

Charlie is well on his way to being housebroken in his foster! He has been given the time and patience he deserves while he learns to be a house-pup and gets used to indoor living. He is using wee-wee pads as a supplement to prevent indoor accidents. Charlie is also making progress learning to walk on a leash and is doing great! He will need continued training to reduce pulling as he is always excited to be outdoors and exploring.

Charlie's diet consists of Purina Pro Plan puppy. He is currently underweight so is being fed 3 generous meals a day. This sweet angel just needs a little extra time to bulk up! When it comes to playtime, Charlie hasn't met a toy or shoe he didn't love. He is still a young pup and likes chews of all sorts, especially his Himalayan yak cheese. He loves squeaky toys and will play fetch. He also loves chasing balls in the yard. If you do not like playing "where the heck is my other shoe" then Charlie may require a little extra redirection.

Overall, Charlie is friendly and unguarded. He loves to play and meet new people and is very friendly. On rare occasions, he may be a little shy around certain individuals for unknown reasons, or with certain things like a pile of cardboard boxes. We don't know what he's been through, but whatever it was it has not stopped Charlie from being an affectionate love bug who loves to give kisses and play.

Charlie is a spirited young pup with typical puppy energy. Once he gets his play and exercise in, he is perfectly content to cuddle and rest. He is so loving and sweet, and gets very attached to the humans who love on him. He always wants to be with his people. Bonus: he does beautifully in car rides! On a lazy afternoon, Charlie just loves curling up at your feet. He seems to run hot so sometimes he goes to the cool floor to rest before coming back on the couch to cuddle. As long as he knows you are close, Charlie is content to nap on the couch or work on his chew toy.

Charlie is not yet neutered, but is UTD on vaccinations. The good news is that because we are a licensed, registered 501(c)3 rescue with the state of NJ, he is eligible to be neutered for just $20 with proof of adoption (adoption contract) through the NJ Low Cost Spay/Neuter Grant Program. It's super-easy, just present our contract at a participating vet and make the neuter appt! Our local vet participates, and you may just find yours does too!
