Valerie - Bernadoodle Dog for Adoption in St. Thomas, Ontario

Meet Valerie: 35 pounds of Bernedoodle nonsense wrapped in one OUTRAGEOUSLY adorable package.

Valerie is about five years old, but apparently nobody told Valerie that. This girl has the enthusiasm of a puppy who just discovered that PEOPLE! EXIST! AND THEY CAME HOME! FOR HER!!!

Considering Valerie spent the first part of her life as a puppy mill mama, her absolute joy about her new life is pretty incredible. She loves people. She loves dogs. She loves the couch. She loves when you come home after five hours. She loves when you come home after ten minutes. The celebration is equally enthusiastic and may include jumping, excited spins and a complete disregard for personal space.

Valerie is a girl's girl. She's your ride-or-die. Your slightly questionable influence. If Val was your BFF, you know dang well she'd be discreetly sliding you RumChata creamers for your coffee at a dance competition and then looking completely innocent when someone walked by. Valerie is down for fun over pretty much everything else, and frankly, we respect it.

She is also a thief.

Not a destructive thief, mind you. Valerie simply enjoys taking a shoe or piece of clothing belonging to her favourite person and relocating it somewhere else in the house. She doesn't chew it. She doesn't ruin it. Apparently she just feels your belongings could be better merchandised.

Valerie is house trained, has medium energy, does wonderfully with other dogs and is great with kids — although her current understanding of manners is... developing. Smaller humans should be sturdy because Valerie's enthusiasm occasionally arrives before her brakes do.

She's working on leash skills and still needs to learn some of the basics, including commands, keeping four feet on the floor and the apparently shocking revelation that food on the counter does not belong to Valerie.

A fenced yard is a must. Another dog isn't required, but we'd really love to see her with a canine buddy who can show her how this whole "living in a house and behaving like a civilized lady" thing works. She'd also love a home where her people are around a fair bit, although she does fine when left alone and doesn't have separation anxiety.

And when the bouncing is finished? Valerie is perfectly happy to curl up quietly beside you on the couch.

Basically, she's sweet, ridiculous, affectionate, badly mannered, hilarious and absolutely DELIGHTED to be here.

Her old life may have been awful. Valerie has decided her new life is for best friends, bad ideas and having a REALLY good time.
