Takara is the kind of dog that makes you stop and think, “this one is special.”
She continues to show just how exceptional she is. Takara is incredibly handler-focused and thrives on connection—she wants to work with her person, think with them, and be fully in tune at all times. She is also a wonderful "snuggle butt" - very affectionate!
She has proven herself in new environments, handling hotel stays, elevators, and busy crowds with calm confidence. She may give a couple of alert barks in a new space, but she settles quickly and shows an impressive ability to relax. Takara has a true off-switch—she is quiet, calm, and non-destructive when left alone, even with noise and activity around her.
One moment that really captures who she is: when a hotel fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, Takara calmly woke her foster mom and stayed right by her side. Outside, surrounded by people and commotion, she remained composed, focused, and steady.
Out in the world, her focus is unmatched. She walks past distractions—including children—without a second glance because she is so locked in on her handler. She has also shown to be neutral around cats, birds, and other small animals.
Takara appears to have prior training and is eager to engage. She has a strong toy drive and loves her Jolly Ball, bringing energy and fun when it's time to play.
She has many of the qualities people look for in a working or sport dog—focus, stability, responsiveness, and drive. She would do best with a breed-experienced handler who understands how to build a strong relationship and bring out her full potential.
Takara will be undergoing heartworm treatment, so she will need a home committed to structure and activity restriction during this time. Once she's through it, the sky is the limit for this incredible girl.
Takara isn't just a good dog—she's a rare one. And in the right hands, she's going to thrive.
